About Us

With over 25 years of experience in design, Chris Adams established his own firm in 2019 focused on custom home design and small commercial projects.

Prior to founding Chris Adams Architect, he spent 20 years on the design team at BensonWood Homes, where he designed over 100 projects, including a certified Passive House and a LEED Silver project for This Old House in 2008. 

Chris specializes in the Integrated Project Delivery or IPD process (rather than traditional design-bid-build).  IPD establishes a collaborative project team early on with the client, builder, and architect to streamline their visions into more successful project outcomes.

Chris creatively partners with builders on residential additions, renovations and innovative new homes with a focus on energy retrofits, high performance homes, and net-zero buildings. He is licensed in VT, NH, NY, MA and RI, and is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the VT Efficiency Excellence Network.
